Modern Smart TVs can do a lot — but the setup is rarely as simple as plugging them in. Wi-Fi connections drop, streaming apps need individual accounts, soundbars have their own quirks, and some settings that were fine on your old TV need to be redone from scratch. We sort all of this out in a single home visit across Melbourne’s eastern and south-eastern suburbs and beyond.
Everything we can help with in one visit
New Smart TV setup
Unbox, position, connect to Wi-Fi, install apps, sign into accounts, adjust picture and audio settings, pair the remote, and test everything before we leave. Works with Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL, Hisense, and all major brands.
Streaming apps & accounts
Install and sign in to Netflix, Stan, Binge, Disney+, Kayo Sports, ABC iview, SBS On Demand, YouTube, Prime Video, and more. We set up each app you actually want — not every app on the store.
Soundbar & speaker connection
Connect your soundbar via HDMI ARC, optical, or Bluetooth. Adjust audio settings so sound comes from the right place. Fix audio lag or sync issues. Works with Samsung, Sony, LG, Sonos, Bose, and others.
Streaming device setup
Set up Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Google TV Stick, or Amazon Fire TV Stick. Connect to Wi-Fi, sign in to accounts, and configure settings. Also pair and test all remotes.
Fixing streaming problems
Apps not loading, TV disconnecting from Wi-Fi, buffering constantly, picture freezing, remote not responding, error codes — we diagnose and fix the actual cause rather than just restarting and hoping.
Simplified setup for seniors
Organise the home screen so favourite apps are front and centre. Adjust text size, contrast, and accessibility settings. Set up a simple remote (we can recommend options that are easier to use). Explain how everything works clearly and patiently.

Common Smart TV problems we fix
You don’t need to buy a new TV just because something isn’t working. Most Smart TV problems have a specific cause and a specific fix — here are the ones we solve most often in Melbourne homes.
TV keeps disconnecting from Wi-Fi
Most commonly caused by the TV being too far from the router, or the router’s 5 GHz band dropping the TV connection. We diagnose whether it’s a signal issue or a TV settings issue — both are fixable. May involve improving your home Wi-Fi coverage or adjusting the TV’s network settings to stay on the stronger 2.4 GHz band.
Streaming is slow or buffering constantly
This can be a Wi-Fi signal issue, an NBN speed issue, or a settings issue with the streaming app itself. We run a speed test at the TV, check signal strength, and identify whether the problem is in the TV, the network, or the streaming service’s own quality settings.
Sound coming from the TV instead of the soundbar
Very common after a TV software update resets audio output settings. We check the HDMI ARC or optical connection, configure the TV’s audio output to the correct output, and adjust soundbar input settings. If the soundbar needs to be connected differently for your TV model, we sort that too.
Apps stopped working after changing internet provider
Changing from one NBN provider to another usually means your Wi-Fi network name and password changed. The TV is still trying to connect to the old network, which no longer exists. We reconnect the TV to the new network, update all app accounts where needed, and make sure everything is back to working order.
Remote not controlling the TV or soundbar properly
Modern Smart TV remotes can control TVs, soundbars, and streaming devices — but they need to be programmed correctly to do so. We pair and configure remotes so one remote does everything you need it to, and recommend simpler remote options for seniors who find the standard remote complicated.

Frequently asked questions
Not necessarily. If you already have accounts (e.g. a Netflix login), just have your email address and password ready. If you need help setting up new accounts, we can assist with that during the visit — just have your email address and credit card handy for any paid services you want to start.
Yes — wall-mounted TVs are no problem for setup, app installation, and Wi-Fi connection. If the issue involves checking the physical cable connections behind a wall-mounted TV, we’ll let you know if that’s likely to be needed before we arrive.
Yes — this is one of the most common things we fix. A TV software update often resets the audio output setting back to “TV speakers” instead of “HDMI ARC” or “Optical.” We change the setting back and also ensure the soundbar firmware is up to date, as mismatched firmware between TV and soundbar is another common cause of this problem.
Absolutely — we work with seniors across Melbourne regularly. We’re patient, we explain everything clearly, and we organise the TV’s home screen so the apps they use most are easy to find. We can also set up the remote so it’s simpler to use. Family members can book on behalf of a parent. See our senior IT support page for more.
